Zackery Rygg, a 6’3″ sophomore guard for Minnesota West Community College, has been lighting up the JUCO scene with his elite scoring ability, high basketball IQ, and fearless playstyle. Averaging 19.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, Rygg has proven to be one of the most reliable and versatile guards in JUCO basketball.
A Deadly Shooter with a High IQ
Rygg’s biggest weapon is his three-point shooting. A true specialist from beyond the arc, he has a quick release, deep range, and the confidence to hit big shots in clutch moments. Defenders can’t afford to give him space, or he’ll make them pay.
However, Rygg isn’t just a shooter—his basketball IQ sets him apart. He takes care of the ball, makes smart decisions, and understands how to control the tempo of the game. Whether he’s setting up teammates, finding the open shot, or attacking the rim, he plays with poise and efficiency.
More Than Just a Shooter
While his three-point stroke is elite, Rygg is also more than capable of putting the ball on the floor and finishing at the rim. He’s a gutsy competitor who isn’t afraid to mix it up inside, absorb contact, and make tough finishes. His 5.5 rebounds per game show that he’s willing to battle on the glass and contribute beyond just scoring.
